7:35 p.m. - It's a Girl!

It's been a while...again. Pregnancy is going well. I'm in my fifth month, and halfway through. It's all been relatively easy for the past couple of months. No more sickness or extreme exhaustion. My eating has leveled out (though I get sick really quickly when my blood sugar gets low). I do have to pee all the time and can't move around without getting winded. I am starting to show, though I'm not huge. The baby is starting to kick like crazy. It was faint at first, but now it's so strong that my belly literally moves. Sean can feel it. He's over the moon.

We've had a couple of ultrasounds. We had a scare, as the ultrasound tech told the doctor she thought she saw something on the baby's brain. They made us go through genetic testing and told us all the things it might be. It scared the hell out of us. We had a second ultrasound last week, though, and they said it was a false alarm: everything was normal. I can actually start breathing and live my life again.

We did find out something else during the ultrasound: we're having a girl! The second ultrasound tech confirmed it. We both had a feeling, but you neve know. Sean has picked her middle name (Yvonne, after his mother), so I get to pick her first name. I keep coming back to Lila. I am holding off until I meet her, though. I want to make sure it's a name that fits her.

The school year is almost up. I am going to be kept busy this summer teaching 5th graders at an Oakland summer school, and tutoring like crazy. Things will settle down in August, when I have to decide what I'll do for work next year. I have been applying for jobs, but I really want to stay home with the baby. Sean makes enough to support us, so all I'd have to do is evening and weekend tutoring to supplement his income. Not sure, though. It's a decision I'm putting off until I have more facts.

Well, Sean just made hamburgers for dinner, so pregnant woman gotta eat. Til next time....

Anne
